Course Introduction

This 3-day course covers the application of knowledge in the field of UX design under the lenses for interior spaces and workplaces.

It has gathered industry partners from fields of spatial designers and practitioners to share their experiences and approaches on how UX Design is implemented and impacts the success of their business.


Course Objective

This course aims to provide participants with a deeper insight to the User Experience methods of design considerations for interior spaces.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Identify opportunities for spatial planning strategies in interior spaces.
• Apply fundamental research and analysis for case studies provided by participants.
• Evaluate and share planning strategies employed by participants.


Course Outline

There are 2 distinct breakout workshops that will actively engage participants to go through a curated learning experience that shares on User Experience design methods that can value add in interior spaces and workplaces.

Day 1 – Introduction to the practice of UX and UX for space planning

a. Learn about the key differentiators and impact in adopting UX.
b. Learn about the various UX space planning strategies.
c. Understand how UX can shape and grow businesses.
d. Understand how UX can improve user experiences.

Day 2 – Applying UX space planning strategies to case studies provided by trainer

a. Learn how to evaluate the issues and opportunities for space planning strategies.
b. Learn how to do quality research and analysis on various case studies.
c. Apply fundamental research and analysis for 1 case study.
d. Learn and share planning strategies employed by participants.

Day 3 – Role play: Applying UX space planning strategies to case studies provided by the participants

a. Learn to identify opportunities for planning strategies.
b. Apply fundamental research and analysis for case studies provided by participants.
c. Evaluate and share planning strategies employed by participants.

Day 3 – Closing Session (Lecture)

a. Understand the growth and future forecast of UX Design for organisations and businesses.


Suitable for

Professionals from the creative industries who have an interest in understanding the relevance of UX design in their professional design work.

PMETs from Government agencies, corporations and private companies that have innovation development and change management as part of their job scopes and portfolio.


Minimum Entry Requirements / Assumed Skills and Knowledge

Participants do not need any design background but having some design background will be useful.


Award / Certification / Accreditation

A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate.

Funding Incentives

SkillsFuture Credit (SFC)

With effect from January 2016, Singaporeans aged 25 years and above who received their SkillsFuture Credit account activation letter will be eligible for an initial credit of $500 which can be used to pay for course fees for a range of eligible skills-related courses. The credits can be used on top of existing course fee subsidies/funding.

This is only applicable for self-sponsored applicants. Application via SkillsFuture Portal can only be made starting from 60 days before the course commencement date.


Withdrawal and Deferment

Withdrawal and deferment notice must be made in writing to the Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy, Singapore Polytechnic via email accordingly:

For withdrawal cases, the portion of course fee to be refunded is based on the date of notice as follows:

Classroom

  • 2 weeks before the commencement of the course - Full refund
  • Less than 2 weeks before commencement of the course - 70% refund
  • On or after date of commencement - No refund

E-Learning
There will be no refund or transfer of course once the account has been created.

The Singapore Polytechnic reserves the right to cancel or postpone any of the courses. Applicants will be duly notified and where applicable, the full fees will be refunded.

The Singapore Polytechnic also reserves the right to amend the fees charged or the period and duration of the courses.

The data provided to Singapore Polytechnic will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for the purpose of course administration. The data may be passed on to the relevant organisations that require the information related to the course.

c) Cheques
Please make cheques payable to “Singapore Polytechnic”. Do cross the cheque and write the Registration Reference ID, Applicant Name and NRIC/FIN number at the back of the cheque. When you have completed required details, you may mail the cheque here.

Please note that an administrative charge of $15 will be imposed for any returned cheques from the bank or financial institution.
