What is this course about?
This course aims to train personnel to be competent Workplace, Safety and Health (WSH) Officers under the WSH Qualifications framework. The competency-based course covers comprehensively the planning, implementation, control and auditing of WSH systems.
This qualification is one of the pre-requisites to be registered as a WSH Officer under the Workplace Safety and Health Act.
Suitable for
Personnel who are engaged in WSH job functions.
Minimum Entry Requirement
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
Track 1
• A recognised1 Technology/Science-related diploma / Engineering degree; AND
• At least 2 years of WSH relevant working experience
OR
Track 2
• Possess ES Workplace Literacy (Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking) Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level English grade C6; AND
• Possess ES Workplace Numeracy Level 6 or GCE'O' Level Maths grade C6, or Mathematics bridging course2; AND
• Possess GCE 'O' Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Physics bridging course2; AND
• Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH; AND
• At least 2 years of post-qualification3 working experience as WSH Supervisor, Coordinator or similar occupational role
OR
Track 3 (New Track - with effect from 28 August 2016)
• Possess ES Workplace Literacy (Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking) Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level English grade C6; AND
• Possess ES Workplace Numeracy Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level Maths grade C6, or Mathematics bridging course2; AND
• Possess GCE 'O' Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Physics bridging course2; AND
• Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH; AND
• At least 5 years of WSH-related working experience, 2 years of which should be recent working experience, for example as a WSH Supervisor / Coordinator
Notes:
1. Recognised Engineering degree refers to any qualification listed in the Professional Engineers (Approved Qualification) Notification. / All Technology/Science-related diplomas from local polytechnics (Singapore Poly, Ngee Ann Poly, Nanyang Poly, Republic Poly, Temasek Poly)
2. Maths and Physics bridging courses refer to new bridging courses.
3. "Post-qualification working experience" refers to 2 years of work experience after completing ACWSH or equivalent

- Establish and Review Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (CC7)
- Establish & Manage WSH Incident Investigation & Analysis Process (CC8)
- Establish Measurement and Monitoring of WSH Performance (CC9)
- Manage Internal WSH Management System Audit (CC10)
- Lead Workplace Communication and Engagement (CC11)
- Compose Technical Report (OHP WSQ) (CC12)
- Develop a WSH Management System (CC13)
- Manage WSH in Construction Industry (CE1)
- Plan, Prepare and Deliver Presentations? (CE2)
- Recommend WSH Control Measures (CE3)
Participants are required to undertake continuous assessments (written and practical), assignments and end-of-course written test (closed-book).

Certification
Participants will be awarded the WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health if they fulfill the 75% attendance rate as well as pass all assessments required by the course.

Participants who have been granted the SkillsFuture funding but fail to meet the above requirements would be liable for the subsidised portion of the course fee.
Payment is NOT required at point of application. Fee is only payable upon acceptance into the course.
Funding Incentives
SSG Baseline Funding
Eligibility Criteria:
- Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
- Achieve at least 75% attendance
- Complete and pass all required assessments
- Complete post-training surveys conducted between 3-6 months after course end
Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES)
With effect from 1st October 2015, Singaporeans aged 40 years and above will enjoy higher subsidies of up to 90% of course fees under the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy.
This is applicable to courses commencing on and after 1st October 2015.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above at the point of enrolment
- Achieve at least 75% attendance in the course
- Complete and pass all required assessments
- Complete post-training surveys conducted between 3-6 months after course end
Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Funding
Eligibility Criteria:
- Singapore Citizens and PRs from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
- Sponsoring companies must be registered or incorporated in Singapore and must fully sponsored the course fee
- Achieve at least 75% attendance in the course
- Complete and pass all required assessments
- Complete post-training surveys conducted between 3-6 months after course end

2. All successful applicants will be notified via email to make payment via NETs or Cheque.
3. Please ensure you have the following documents with you during online application as documents are to be uploaded to complete the application:
- Photocopy of NRIC for Singaporeans and PRs, or 'Employment' / 'S' Pass for foreign applicants
- Copies of your academic certificate/result slip/ transcript (GCE 'O' Certificate, Diploma, Degree, WPLN SOA, Certificates in bridging course)
- Copies of certificates of training in WSH or other related areas attended
- Letter from current employer with designation, job description and duration of employment; or
- Completed CV including current and all past jobs with designation, name of employer, duration of employment and job description
Additional Notes:
1. Applications without ALL the above required supporting documents will be considered incomplete and rejected.
2. Singapore Polytechnic regrets that we will not be able to inform individual applicants of the incomplete documentation.
