About This Course

The Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for Utilities Engineer / Assistant Engineer is a 9-month programme which aims to enable mid-career PMETs to embark on new careers in the water industry.  PCPs which operate on a Place-and-Train mode, facilitates placements into hiring companies and training these new staff through an industry recognised training programme to acquire the necessary skills for Utilities Engineer / Assistant Engineer jobs in the water industry.


Suitable for

Singapore citizens or Singapore permanent residents who
• Have fulfilled National Service obligation (for Males);
• Are at least 21 years old;
• Have graduated or ORD and worked for at least 2 years;
•  Must not be in a similar job role prior to joining the PCP;
•  Are newly hired and nominated by an eligible participating company for the PCP


Assumed Skills and Knowledge
Possess at least a NITEC/Higher NITEC/Diploma/Degree from any Engineering / Science discipline


Course Details

Participating companies should hire the selected candidates as full-time employees. The participants will undergo up to 1 month of facilitated classroom training which comprises of a total of 84 training hours * at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) (estimated 12 work days). This is accompanied by up to 8 months of company in-house structured on-the-job training (OJT).

* There are no fixed training schedules as class commencement is based on aggregated sign-ups by companies. Please contact SP for more information.

Participants are required to complete the following four mandatory modules:
1. Chemical processes
2. Physical processes
3. Biological processes
4. Pumping and advanced processes


Minimum Entry Requirements

Possess at least a NITEC/Higher NITEC/Diploma/Degree from any Engineering / Science discipline.

 


Certification
Participants who meet the minimum attendance requirement and passed the assessments required by each module will be awarded a Certificate of Performance in the module.

Funding Incentives

Eligibility for WSG Funding:
- Singapore Citizens and SPRs (company sponsored)
- Achieve at least 75% attendance for each module
- Complete and pass all required assessments
- Complete post-training survey conducted between 3 to 6 months after course ends.
- Fulfilment of classroom training and structured OJT

This PCP for Utilities Engineer / Assistant Engineer is applicable for companies in and supporting the water industry. This is not open to individual members of the public. We will only accept applications from participating companies who have signed an agreement with SP.
