What is this course about?

This course aims to train personnel to be competent Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Auditor under the WSH Qualifications framework.

The competency-based course covers topics like WSH management system, legal requirements, audit programme, culture assessment, apply risks assessment methodologies.


Suitable for

Personnel who are engaged in WSH job functions and are likely to be in a professional auditing and advisory role or current WSH officers who aspire to become WSH Auditors.


Minimum entry requirements

Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

Track 1
• A recognised WSH degree qualification for WSHO registration with MOM (refer to Note.1) ; AND
• At least 2 years of post WSH qualification working experience as a WSH officer or similar occupational role (refer to Note.3)

OR

Track 2
• Technology/Science-related / Engineering diploma/degree (refer to Note.2) ; AND
• WSQ Specialist Diploma in WSH qualification (Level C); AND
• At least 2 years of post WSH qualification working experience as a WSH officer or similar occupational role (refer to Note.3)

OR

Track 3
• GCE 'O' Level English & Mathematics grade B4 or ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 7; AND
• WSQ Specialist Diploma in WSH qualification (Level C); AND
• At least 2 years of post WSH qualification working experience as a WSH officer or similar occupational role (refer to Note.3)

Note:
1. A recognised WSH degree for WSHO registration with MOM includes:

• Bachelor of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Degree conferred by the University of Newcastle Australia
• Bachelor of Science (Health and Safety) conferred by the Curtin University of Technology (Australia) - Singapore Campus
• Bachelor of Science in Human Factor in Safety conferred by the SIM University (UniSIM)
• Master of Science in Safety, Health and Environmental Technology conferred by National University of Singapore
• Bachelor of Science (Hons) Safety, Health and Environmental Management conferred by Leeds Beckett University (Singapore campus)

2. Recognised Engineering degree refers to any qualification listed in the Professional Engineers (Approved Qualification) Notification. / All Technology/Science-related diplomas from local polytechnics (Singapore Poly, Ngee Ann Poly, Nanyang Poly, Republic Poly, Temasek Poly)

3. "Post-qualification working experience" refers to 2 years of work experience after awarded SDWSH or equivalent


Course Outline

1. Conduct WSH Management System Audit
2. Advise on WSH Legal Requirements and Good Practices
3. Manage WSH Audit Programme
4. Recommend Continual Improvement to WSH Management System
5. Apply Risks Assessment Methodologies in WSH Process
6. Conduct a WSH Culture Assessment

One elective which will be offered to participants (subject to changes):
- Apply WSH Operational Excellence

Note: Participants are required to undertake continuous assessments, assignments and written test.

Continuous assessments and project.


Certification

Participants will be awarded the WSQ Graduate Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health if they fulfill the 75% attendance rate as well as pass all the assessments required by the course. 

 

Course Fee

 

Full Course Fee: $3,960.00 (excluding GST)
GST: 277.20

 

1. SSG Baseline Funding (50%)

Grant Amount: $1,980.00

Nett Course after Funding: $1,980.03 + $277.20 = $2,257.23 

 

2. Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) (90%)

Grant Amount: $3,564.00

Nett Course Fee after Subsidy: $396.00 + $277.26 = $673.26

 

3. Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Funding (90%)

Grant Amount: $3,564.00

Nett Course after Funding: $396.00 + $277.26 = $673.26

Participants who have been granted the SSG funding but fail to meet the above requirements would be liable for the subsidised course fee.

Payment is only required at point of enrollment.


Funding Incentives

1. SSG Baseline Funding

Eligibility Criteria:
 - Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
 - Achieve at least 75% attendance
 - Complete and pass all required assessments
 - Complete post-training surveys conducted between 3-6 months after course end

 

2. Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES)

With effect from 1st October 2015, Singaporeans aged 40 years and above will enjoy higher subsidies of up to 90% of course fees under the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy.

This is applicable to courses commencing on and after 1st October 2015.

Eligibility Criteria:
 - Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above at the point of enrolment
 - Achieve at least 75% attendance in the course
 - Complete and pass all required assessments
 - Complete post-training surveys conducted between 3-6 months after course end

 

3. Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Funding

Eligibility Criteria:
 - Singapore Citizens and PRs from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
 - Sponsoring companies must be registered or incorporated in Singapore and must fully sponsored the course fee
 - Achieve at least 75% attendance in the course
 - Complete and pass all required assessments
 - Complete post-training surveys conducted between 3-6 months after course end

 

4. Absentee Payroll Funding

Companies can claim absentee payroll funding when they sponsor their employees for the academic CET programmes.

Accreditation

 

This course is accredited under the WSQ Graduate Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health, for Continuing Professional Development Programme. Participants will gain 180 SDU points upon completion of the course. Course participants must complete this course with at least 75% attendance rate per module.

2. All successful applicants will be notified via email to make payment via NETs or Cheque. 

3. Please ensure you have the following documents with you during online application as documents are to be uploaded to complete the application:

  • Photocopy (back and front) of NRIC for Singaporeans and PRs, or 'Employment' / 'S' Pass for foreign applicants
  • Copies of your academic certificate/result slip/ transcript (GEC 'N','O' Certificate, Diploma, Degree, WPLN SOA)
  • Copies of certificates of training in WSH or other related areas attended
  • Letter from current employer with designation, duration of employment and job description relating to WSH
  • Completed CV including current and all past jobs with designation, name of employer, duration of employment and job description
  • Workplace Safety and Health Officer certification

1. Applications without ALL the above required supporting documents will be considered incomplete and rejected.
