2018 Achievers’ Function

The SP Business School held its annual Achievers’ Function on 1st June 2018 at the Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre.

Almost 600 guests including lecturers, students and their families were present to celebrate with awards winners  of  Academic Year 2017/2018. Award recipients included students who topped their respective courses and cohorts, students on the Director’s Honour Roll, students who were granted prestigious academic and / or sports scholarships and students who were key appointment holders in their Co-Curricular Activities. In addition, Business School lecturers who were recipients of the Excellence in Teaching awards last academic year were also recognised.

The opening ceremony was graced by Director of SP Business School, Ms Tan Yen Yen who took the opportunity to congratulate award recipients for their achievements.

The audience were honoured to have Mr Mohd Abbas, an alumnus of SP Business School who graduated in 2010 with a Diploma in Banking & Financial Services. Mr Abbas co-founded 2 financial technology companies, Onelyst and Rely. Onelyst is a loan discovery platform that matches consumers with financiers. Rely enables online shoppers to access interest-free split payment options. Mr Abbas was awarded “the Forbes 30 under 30 Asia List” in the Finance and Venture Capital Category in 2016 at the age of only 25. Mr Abbas shared his personal experiences and reinforced the values of hard work and perseverance to excel in life.

Mr Abbas’ message was also alluded by top performer from DAC, Ms Lee Jwee Yu, who gave an inspiring speech on tenacity, hard work and gumption spirit as essentials for overcoming many challenges she met over the last 2 years in SP.

It was certainly a proud and memorable day for all award winners and their kins - a day that stands out and serves as further impetus for excellence and greatness in the participants’ future pursuits and endeavours.
