Against the odds – DAC Succeeds at the SMU Tax Case Challenge 2021

07 Sep 2021

Nine student teams from Diploma in Accountancy (DAC) represented SP at a competition organised by Singapore Management University (SMU) on Sat, 28 Aug 2021. The competition saw about 280 participants from local universities and polytechnics vie for success as they competed in the Preliminary round and the top four teams advanced to the Case Challenge round.  The remaining teams moved on to the Associate round.

One of our teams – the only one from a polytechnic – emerged as 3rd runner up in the Case Challenge round. The students, See Hwee Jin, Goh Jia Min, Foo Wen Ting and Inna A’laina Binte Jamil, put in their best and succeeded despite the advanced tax topics and stiff competition from the other three finalist teams, all of whom were from universities.

Another DAC team comprising Winston Soh, Poon Yi Ming, Woo Jia Qi and Thahmina emerged as 5th runner-up in the Associate round.

We are very proud of all our teams and thankful to our lecturers who helped prepared them for this feat!
