Interview & Resume Workshop at Barclays Bank PLC - Getting a headstart!
01 Nov 2019
On 11 October 2019, 20 students from the Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBKF) attended an Interview and CV writing workshop hosted by Barclays Bank.
The first session covered impactful content like what a good CV should consist of, and how it should be organized. Several action words that carry impact and display professionalism were also recommended for use in our CV to stand out from the competition. We were then introduced to the various forms of interviews, such as phone, group, etc., and how to leave a good impression. They also shared their personal interview experiences with us and how they coped with technical questions that do not necessarily have answers to.
We were fortunate to hear from the Treasury Traders from the Treasury Department on the nature of their jobs and what they do on a daily basis.
After lunch, groups of 3 to 4 students were assigned a personal mentor who provided one-on-one coaching to identify the flaws and improvements for their CVs. Thereafter, the mentors conducted mock interviews with every student, and gave them feedback on areas for improvement. It was a wholesome and fantastic learning experience.
We thank Barclays Bank for being so generous by hosting this workshop and imparting these important skills to the younger generation.
