SMA Receives Award at the International Safety@Sea Awards 2020

The Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) has been recognised with an award in the “Open” category at the International Safety@Sea Awards 2020 organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The result was announced during the Annual International Safety@Sea 2020 conference which was presented via live webinar on 1 December 2020.

This award is presented to organisations that has shown innovation in technology / systems and design / training demonstrating safety at sea within the maritime industry. The winning organisation must have shown substantive safety-related contributions recognised by the maritime industry.

Director SMA, Capt Mohd Salleh, attributed the awards to the contributions by SMA staff in ensuring that SMA continued to conduct courses and training especially those related to maritime safety during the pandemic.

The panel has also recognised the state-of-the-art technology & infrastructure in SMA which are used for training and that SMA has been working closely with SP CEMS on the various innovative research projects which has also impressed the panel.

SMA also thanks SP CEMS for the strong partnership and collaboration and to SP Management for their support in allowing SMA to work closely with the industry in many fronts from providing training to research collaborations.
