DBIT 2nd year students, Adriel Lam and Lim Chee Xiong, have brought honor to the School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology by emerging as the 1st runner-up in SAP Lumira University Challenge 2014 which was organised by SAP Asia Pte Ltd.

At least 30 teams from all the polytechnics in Singapore, of which 7 teams were from Singapore Polytechnic, took part in the competition and only 10 teams were shortlisted for the final presentation on 15 Dec 2014. The competition was very keen but the team persevered under the guidance of their mentors from the School of DMIT, namely; Mrs. Tan Teck June, Mr. Chanon Kulchol, Dr. Clarence Ng and Ms. Junie Tan.

Team Zacky (as they are called) presented on their project to address the social issues of HIV and AIDS. From their analysis of data from MOH they managed to extract some worrying trends on HIV and AIDS among certain age groups. They were also able to suggest some tactful methods to address the issue. The prizes for the 1st runner-up were trophies for the team members and for the school and also a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 for each team member.

“The entire process was fun and challenging. We did not give up even though there were difficulties along the way,” said Lim Chee Xiong, DBIT 2nd Year Student. Adriel Lam, DBIT 2nd Year Student, said: “I learnt to cherish the moments and experience”.

Both students were very appreciative of their lecturers for their guidance and advice throughout the entire competition. The School of DMIT is proud of them and congratulates them for their outstanding performance.
