Singapore Polytechnic offers solutions to address the digitalisation needs of the local industry

At the Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP) 2019 event today, Singapore Polytechnic (SP) unveiled a suite of innovations to help companies, including food manufacturers, stay relevant and productive in an increasingly digitised economy. Currently many Small, Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which account for more than 90% of the industry, are often daunted by the cost and loss of revenue as a result of downtime when approached to replace legacy machines[1] with technologically advanced models. To meet the rising local demand for specialised digital technology skills, Singapore Polytechnic (SP) has launched the first-of-its-kind Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics (DAAA) course amongst the polytechnics in Singapore. ​ The multi-disciplinary DAAA course combines modules including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Algorithms, Statistics, Data Visualization and Engineering and Software Development modules to equip graduates with the latest and relevant skills.

Singapore, 8 May 2019 – Singapore Polytechnic (SP) today hosted its 59th graduation ceremony, with Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for National Development, Mr Desmond Lee, as the Guest-of-Honour. This year, 5,621 graduates will receive their diplomas, advanced diplomas, specialist diplomas and certificates over 16 sessions.

Singtel, Ericsson and Singapore Polytechnic open Singapore’s first live 5G facility

Singtel, Ericsson and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) today opened the country’s first live 5G facility at SP’s Dover Road campus. The facility, named 5G Garage, is connected to Singtel’s latest pilot 5G network located at Ayer Rajah and runs on 3.5GHz trial spectrum granted by the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA).

Singapore Polytechnic survey finds that Internet users are more informed about current affairs than those using traditional media

Singapore youth who prefer the Internet as their source of news were found to have a higher level of current affairs knowledge than those who prefer traditional media. This was one of the key findings discovered from the survey conducted by students from Singapore Polytechnic (SP)’s Diploma in Media and Communication (DMC) in June 2018. The study focused on Singapore youth’s news consumption habits and their level of current affairs knowledge.

Singapore Polytechnic and the Republic of Singapore Air Force Sign MoU to Collaborate in Innovative Projects

A five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed earlier today at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) by SP’s Senior Director (Engineering Cluster) Mr Loh Yew Chiong and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)’s Commander Air Force Training Command Colonel Kevin Goh, which will enable SP and the RSAF to collaborate in innovative initiatives and projects using Extended Reality technologies.
