Message from Principal & CEO
Dear SP Class of 2020,
You are among 6,192 students who graduate from Singapore’s first polytechnic this year. My sincere congratulations to all of you.
All of you can be proud and honoured to be part of a 212,000-strong network of illustrious men and women who, like you, entered the gates of SP and then went on to help to build Singapore over the last six decades. Many had to face challenging situations
and trying times in forging their paths to success.
Today, we are facing unprecedented times. While I am sure you are all aware of the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment in which we live, COVID-19 has impacted us in a way most of us have never seen or even imagined. COVID-19
will pass and I believe that when it has abated, you will emerge stronger, wiser and more determined to pursue your passion and make a difference. Like your predecessors, I know you have the gumption to succeed for you are an SP graduate, our
pride and joy.
Beyond what you have received these last 3 years at SP, you will need to constantly learn, un-learn and re-learn in adapting to the many challenges you will face. I would advise that you remain teachable and be a life-long learner. SP would
like to partner you in this journey. To support you in these trying times, Singapore Polytechnic is offering you two free courses with SP PACE Academy, which we hope will shore up your future readiness in the ever evolving landscape. (For

It was announced on 24th April that from June 1, recent graduates of the polytechnics, ITE universities and other institutions will be able to tap on the new SGUnited Traineeships Programme to boost their employability. This programme aims to support
graduates like you who may be affected by the economic situation and help you gain valuable work experience to better prepare you for the job market when the economy recovers. So for those of you who have yet to land a job, I would encourage
you to take up traineeship opportunities that will be offered across various sectors. (Please access this link for more information.)
Even as you face uncertainties ahead, do look back and see how much you have accomplished and what you have managed to overcome to have attained your diploma, which is certainly a milestone achievement. Do also take the time to remember and appreciate
those around you who have supported you on your journey such as your family, friends and lecturers whom I am sure are also proud of you.
Once again, graduates of 2020, my heartfelt congratulations to all of you.
Mr Soh Wai Wah
