Applying for Nautical Studies

Entry RequirementApplication Period

Applicants holding the following qualification may apply for Nautical Studies:

  • Singapore Cambridge GCE 'O' Level
  • Relevant ITE qualification with minimum GPA of 2.0 (Higher Nitec) and 3.5 (Nitec)
  • Other qualifications

Must meet the minimum entry requirements and eyesight requirements. Shortlisted candidates who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents are required to attend and pass an interview. International students must be sponsored by a Singapore shipping company.

Entry RequirementApplication Period

Must have completed IP Year 4 (or Sec 4 equivalent). Candidates must produce school results and recommendations (if any). Candidates may be required to undergo tests and / or interviews.

Applicants with Work Experience

 

Entry RequirementApplication Period

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents with at least 2 years of relevant work experience are invited to apply.

Candidates will be assessed based on work experience, course academic entry requirements [e.g., English, Maths, relevant subject(s)], interview and other assessments.

11 to 16 January 2024

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents with relevant WSQ Diploma (or higher)

  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Level 6 for both WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents with relevant part-time Higher Nitec in Technology / Services

  • Attained final net GPA of 2.0 or better
  • With at least 1 year of relevant work experience

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents with relevant part-time Nitec in Technology / Services

  • Attained final net GPA of 3.5 or better
  • With at least 1 year of relevant work experience

GCSE / IGCSE / GCE (non-Singapore-Cambridge)

A 'B' average overall would be minimally sufficient for candidates to make a competitive application. We only accept English as 1st Language.

IGCSE holders from the following local schools are also invited to apply:
  • ACS (International)
  • Hwa Chong (International)
  • SJI International

Note: IGCSE / GCSE Grades A to C is comparable to GCE 'O' levels Grades 1 to 6 and IGCSE / GCSE Grade D is comparable to GCE 'O' Grade 7.

(For those with new IGCSE / GCSE Grades 9 to 1, Grades 9 to 4 would be comparable to GCE 'O' levels Grades 1 to 6 and IGCSE / GCSE Grade 3 is comparable to GCE 'O' Grade 7).

  • Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' Level holders who have applied through the JAE and the EAE may not apply again through SP's DAE (except for those applying for the Nautical Studies course) as their DAE application will be invalidated. ITE qualification holders (except ex-polytechnic students) should only apply through the JPAE.
