Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory

With the integration of digital technologies in manufacturing and the establishment of smart factories, the 4th industrial revolution, commonly known as “Industry 4.0” is catching on with manufacturers. Moving from high volume, low-variety products to mass customization of unique product at lower cost, this personalised and mass production is made achievable due to highly connected, intelligent and autonomous system. Hence, the term Smart factory will be commonly used to refer to highly digitized shop floor that continuously collects and shares data through connected machines, devices and production system. The data can be used by self-optimizing devices or across the enterprises to proactively address issues, improve manufacturing processes and respond to new demands.

Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC) partners with industry and technology solutions providers to help enterprises (especially SMEs) transform in their digitalization journey.

Companies are able to leverage on AMC’s experienced staff and interns to evaluate and implement viable solutions in improving the productivity and quality of their manufacturing operations. This is achieved by deploying robotic and automation technologies in the framework of Industry 4.0 (based on SIRI).

AMC has installed commissioned solutions for the electronics, precision engineering, general manufacturing, outpatient pharmacy automation, and others. Notable projects completed are:

  • Bottle Dispensing System (BDS)
A world’s first bottled medication dispensing system designed and developed for KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 2015. It helps improving productivity as well as reducing medication dispensing error.

  • Auto Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS)
A medication dispensing system designed and developed for Punggol Polyclinic in 2018. The system improves productivity and reduces medication dispensing error.

  • iCollect
