Analysing the carbon footprint through data collected from the students

Lianhe Zaobao, 26 Jan 2017 - Article featured the results of the National Science Experiment (NSE) conducted by National Research Foundation Singapore since two years ago. The data collected will be used to support the “Virtual Singapore” project for urban planning purpose. Last year, the experiment was extended to ITE and polytechnic students. Over four consecutive days, nearly 5,000 students from 92 institutions wore the device which can record the temperature, pressure, sound and other data from the environment. Article also mentioned the NSE Big Data Challenge where students formed groups to analyse the data collected by the SENSg device and presented their findings. Fifty groups of students from various schools participated in this challenge that was held this year for the first time. A group of SP students from the School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology emerged as the winner in the tertiary category while NUS High School of Math and Science was the winner of the secondary school category.
