Conserved buildings: Consult public before slicing and dicing

08 Sep 2016

The Straits Times, 8 Sep 2016 - Opinion column featured the tearing down of the conserved Ellison Building to facilitate the construction of the North-South Corridor. Many in the heritage community have slammed the decision to demolish and reconstruct the Ellison Building, describing it as a regressive move. Article also mentioned that the Bestway Building which housed the former SP campus has already lost part of its features to the Circle Line’s Prince Edward station. The Bestway Building housed Singapore’s first architecture school and many in the architectural community believe the site should be kept intact to be better understood as a school compound.
