Fast-track for SP accountancy students

05 Apr 2017

The New Paper, 5 Apr 2017 - With the tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by SP, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and Deloitte Singapore, SP students now have the option of qualifying as a chartered accountant locally and in the United Kingdom through an accelerated route that does not require a degree. The MOU is the first of its kind for ICAEW. The part-time Professional Chartered Accountancy (PCA) course offered by SP will better prepare and fast-track students to complete the ICAEW Associate Chartered Accountant examination. However, students must still have three years of working experience before they can qualify as chartered accountants. The MOU will also support students looking for a career in accountancy and finance at Deloitte Singapore. SP’s third-year Diploma in Accountancy student Nur Ariyanni Binte Hamidon, who has taken up the PCA course, opined that a degree is not the only pathway to become a chartered accountant. She shared that work experience is just as important.
