27 Jul 2017

Today, 27 Jul 2017 - Article featured two former Institute of Technical Education (ITE) students, Hoong Seng Keng and Amos Goh Zhi Zhong, who graduated with First Class Honours from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) this year. Nearly 9,600 students from the university’s class of 2017 — its 26th batch of graduates — would be having their convocation ceremonies over a week, starting 26 July 2017. Seng Kang, an alumnus from SP’s School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE), shared about his bad academic performance in primary school and how his Primary 5 form teacher, Mr Leong, helped to improve his academic scores. Mr Leong would have regular one-to-one chats with Seng Keng to broaden his perspective. Seng Keng topped his class in the Primary School Leaving Examination, and went on to the Normal (Technical) stream in Henderson Secondary School. He subsequently enrolled in ITE before coming to SP. During his time in SP, he was placed on the Dean’s List for every semester in the last two years, and graduated with a diploma with merit. Seng Keng has since secured a top job at a multinational technology firm Micron Technology, where he will focus on areas related to solid-state devices. NYP’s Diploma in Electronics, Computer & Communications Engineering alumnus Amos credited his poly math lecturer Ms Neo Chee Eng for coaching and motivating him when he was struggling in his studies. From then on, he scored straight As for almost every module, placing him on the Director’s List for five consecutive semesters. Amos has started working at ST Electronics as an engineer specialising in the area of Internet of Things.
