Growing Maritime Industry in Singapore

Berita Harian, 11 May 2017 - Article highlighted a new Maritime Apprenticeship scheme that provides training in the maritime field for job seekers while matching them with companies for them to get full-time jobs. This scheme was launched by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), Workforce Singapore (WSG) and the Association of Singapore Marine Employees (SOS), under the Adapt and Grow initiative. Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the Certificate of Competency (Special Limit) programme and Tugmasters (Port Limit) programme at SP, the chief executive of Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Mr Andrew Tan said that this Maritime Apprenticeship scheme developed by the Tripartite Maritime Manpower Taskforce for Seafaring (TF-Sea) aims to provide Singaporeans with wider employment opportunities by providing a channel for them to be matched with suitable employers and to gain relevant vocational skills.
