Individuals should take charge of own learning journey: Iswaran

The Straits Times, 6 May 2017 - Article highlighted Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) Mr S. Iswaran’s message to the 651 adult graduands from SP’s Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy. The graduates were receiving their diplomas and certificates at their graduation ceremony. Mr S Iswaran shared that educational institutions and industries must work closely to ensure that knowledge acquired and skills developed remain relevant to the changing needs of the economy, and that individuals must take ownership of their own learning journeys. He encouraged institutes of higher learning to collaborate with the industry and cited the successful collaboration between SP’s PACE Academy, Workforce Singapore, SkillsFuture Singapore to roll out relevant courses. Mr S Iswaran also commended Sheikh Harun Mohammad Rafik, who made a mid-career switch and sought relevant upgrading through SP PACE Academy’s Diploma (Conversion) in Shipping and Marine Offshore.
