Infocomm Media Development Authority gives out 33 scholarships

Lianhe Zaobao, 14 Oct 2016 Article featured SP’s Diploma in Infocomm Security Management student Chua Han Yong Darren as one of the 33 recipients of the iPoly Scholarships given out by the Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA). Darren, who has a growth disorder, shared how he learnt programming and the setting up of wireless networks from his father, who is a senior IT personnel at a telecommunication company. The experience got him interested in information technology. Article also featured TP’s second-year Diploma in Big Data Management & Governance student Zheng Yi Guang as part of the first batch of 800 students under the Industry Preparation for Pre-Graduates (iPrep) programme by IMDA. The iPrep programme provides funding support to students for specialised courses to attain industry certifications, as well as opportunities to gain work experience by embarking on industry infocomm projects during their internship. Yi Guang intends to use the iPrep grant to attend courses on data analysis.
