MOU provides an easier pathway for diploma holders to become chartered accountants

07 Apr 2017

Berita Harian, 7 Apr 2017 - With the tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by SP, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and Deloitte Singapore, SP Diploma in Accountancy students now have the option of qualifying as a chartered accountant locally and in the United Kingdom through an accelerated route that does not require a degree. The MOU is the first of its kind for ICAEW. The part-time Professional Chartered Accountancy (PCA) course offered by SP will better prepare and fast-track students to complete the ICAEW Associate Chartered Accountant examination.  However, students must still have three years of working experience before they can qualify as chartered accountants. The MOU will also support students looking for a career in accountancy and finance at Deloitte Singapore. Mr Soh Wai Wah, SP’s Principal and Chief Executive Officer, shared that the partnership allows students to qualify as a chartered accountant in the shortest time, which is three years after graduation in SP, while working at an accounting firm.
