Ngee Ann Polytechnic to offer multiple internships to students

06 Jan 2016

Channel News Asia, 5 Jan 2016 - NP will provide opportunities for students, including those in their first year, to take on multiple internships, in a bid to strengthen its education and career guidance efforts. This month, the polytechnic will launch a portal where students can look for internships that suit their course of study. The internships will last between six and eight weeks, and can take place during semester breaks. The interns will not be graded, unlike the stints which typically lasts between 16 and 22 weeks, offered during the final year of study. NP said the move came after close to 60 per cent of about 900 students surveyed in April last year said they wanted to take on more internships. Deputy Director of student services at NP, Ms Christy Chung, opined that when a student applies for an internship through this platform, they will make an appointment to consult the polytechnic’s education and career counsellor. NP student Celeste Chang opined that attending internships earlier could allow her to discover her interests. Similar story was reported in Channel 5 News.
