17 Feb 2017

The Straits Times, 17 Feb 2017 - Article featured engineer Mohamed Johannes Wahid, who took up a modular course in maritime and offshore operations at SP’s Professional & Adult Continuing Education Academy two years ago. He now applies what he learnt in the classroom to his job in a subsea services company. Mr Johannes shared that lifelong learning through short courses is more suitable for adults due to their busy schedules. Last year, there were 513 such modular courses, an increase from 338 in 2015. The Ministry of Education will work with institutions to offer more of such courses this year. Helping workers acquire and use deep skills was one of the seven strategies spelt out by the Committee on the Future Economy recently to prepare Singaporeans for future challenges.
