Singapore Poly students design call police app to fight crime

11 Mar 2016

The Straits Times, 12 Mar 2016 - Article featured a mobile app developed by five students from SP’s Diploma in Business Information Technology students. The app, Call Police, was on display at SP’s annual Project Showcase, which showcases more than 200 projects spanning across 12 disciplines ranging from game design, landscape architecture to digital media. The ‘Call Police’ app allows the user to dial 999 with the press of a button and sends his particulars and location directly to the police. Students worked with officers from Jurong West Neighbourhood Police Centre for six months to develop the current prototype. Another project that was highlighted was the ‘Secret to Success’ video conceptualised by two students from SP’s Diploma in Visual Communication and Media Design. Working with members of the Dyslexia Association of Singapore, the video aims to raise awareness about dyslexia by featuring an emotional story of a child reaching success despite his learning disorder. The video was posted to Facebook two weeks ago and currently has over 15,000 views. Article also mentioned NYP’s School of Design’s graduation showcase at the National Library.
