Singaporean wins Best New Director accolade at China short film festival

The Straits Times - Life!, 16 Dec 2016 - SP’s Diploma in Digital Media alumnus and current Beijing Film Academy student Alvin Lee’s short film “Seed”, has won him the Best New Director Award over 10,000 other submissions at the China Short Film Golden Hummingbird Awards. The China Short Film Awards are the country's first national-level event for shorts and were first held in 2012. “Seed” tells the story of an emotional visit a couple pays a little boy who has received the donated heart of their dead son. Alvin was one of 26 successful candidates out of 1,000 applicants to be accepted into the prestigious Beijing Film Academy after going through six stages of examinations. He is also the first SP graduate to be accepted by the academy.
