Singaporean youth prefer affordability over quality: Survey

13 Jan 2016

Yahoo Singapore, 12 Jan 2016 - Article featured results from a survey conducted by students from SP’s Diploma in Media and Communication (DMC), who found that Singaporean youth prefer affordability over product quality when shopping online. The survey also found that Qoo10 and Carousell were the most popular online retailers among respondents. Second-year DMC student Chong Joo Xuan opined that she is surprised to find that males actually spend more than females, because there is a common perception that females spend more on shopping. Second-year DMC student Nicholas Sim opined that between 8pm and 12am is the best time to hold any sort of promotions or special deals or even any new arrivals. DMC lecturer Ms Clarice Sim opined that students from the course conduct a survey on youth-centric issues annually, and that the topic of online shopping was selected this year due to its growing relevance and trendiness among youth. A similar article in Vulcan Post and e27.co featured second-year DMC student Elizabeth Foo, who opined that the survey findings will be useful to marketers because there are few localised surveys targeting Singapore youth.
