Smart farming app beats intelligent doorbell in AWS HackDay 2017 Singapore

Hardwarezone Malaysia,, 20 Apr 2017- Among the 22 teams that participated in the 12-hour AWS Hackday 2017 organised by Amazon Web Services Singapore are representatives from two Singapore universities and two polytechnics. Team 4 Musketeers from SP won under the student category for delivering a prototype that allows senior citizens with limited English proficiency to manage their medications, by scanning the QR code that is affixed to the pill container. The Alexa-enabled device will then read out the dosage, timing, and pill description in a dialect of their choice, such as Mandarin, Hokkien, or Tamil. This is made possible by Amazon Polly’s lifelike text-to-speech capabilities.
