Lianhe Zaobao, 31 Dec 2014 - A project by 6 students from the Diploma in Architecture (DARCH) is featured in this article. In a collaboration with National Parks Singapore, the students from DARCH designed a trash bin in the shape of a pyramid to prevent wild monkeys from foraging. The students are from a group of 120 who took the Detailing for Sustainable Design module in SP. Alan Lai, the ABE lecturer in charge of this programme, is also featured in this article. He said that the programme trains students to think about the sustainability of their designs, and to take environmental factors into their conceptualization. For the past 2 years, students have also been working with Singapore Tourism Board and National Environmental Agency through this programme.
