Students reliving spirit of xinyao

The Straits Times, 21 Aug 2017 - Article featured SP’s Diploma in Music and Audio Technology (DMAT) student Wayne Oh, one half of the team that won in the song composition category at the National Xinyao competition on Aug 12. He shared that the most fulfilling part for him is writing the song. He and DMAT teammate Jeremy Hwang Jie Wei attended a xinyao masterclass out of interest and learnt to write a song. They roped in their classmate Brandon Ling Zi Hao to perform their song, Unforgettable Past, at the competition. The song is about a man looking back on a relationship. SP’s Diploma in Food Science and Technology student Joyce Seah, won in the solo category through her rendition of Farewell Sleeve, a song by xinyao singer Hong Shaoxuan.
