Wising up after 4 nights in a lockup

The Sunday Times, 5 Apr 2015 - SP’s Diploma in Computer Engineering graduate, Mr Alvin Lee, was profiled in a weekly column on individuals who have overcome adversities in life. Alvin was charged with rioting 10 years ago. Just before his sentence was read out, his father ignored court protocol and tearfully addressed the judge. The moving experience changed his life and Alvin decided to work hard and enrolled in an ITE communications technology course in 2009. Alvin subsequently achieved a GPA of 4, a perfect score, and bagged a heap of awards, ranging from model student to top graduate and all-round achiever for his ITE studies. He achieved this while working as a driver for a moving company in the evenings. After graduating from ITE, Alvin enrolled in SP and graduated last year among the top 5 per cent of his cohort. Alvin is currently a lecturer at ITE and hopes to use his experiences to motivate his students.
