ASEAN BAC Partners with Singapore Polytechnic to Champion Online Entrepreneurship Mentoring Program

11 Nov 2018

November 11, 2018 - ASEAN Business Advisory Council signs memorandum of collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic to champion the online entrepreneurship mentoring program across ASEAN. This is an inclusive 15-week e-learning program that will provide students a platform to be entrepreneurial and learn relevant business, technical and creative skill sets needed to start, sustain and scale-up a business.

The program culminates with the student teams pitching their businesses to key partners and investors with the aim of bringing the product, solution or service to a wider market. “This partnership through the AMEN (ASEAN Mentorship for Entrepreneurs Network will further institutionalize mentorship particularly among the youth across ASEAN."

The idea is to make learning inclusive by providing them an online entrepreneurship program of 15 weeks supported by academic institutions. With Philippines as the first to adapt the program, we hope to bring in more schools and universities to implement the program locally. These academic institutions will supply faculty mentors that will be trained by Singapore Polytechnic while Go Negosyo will provide industry mentors nationwide,” ASEAN BAC Philippines chair and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion said.

Concepcion also reiterated, “We want to push this initiative this year and will work with the Pilipinas Angat Alliance, the alliance of business organizations as source of mentors across the country."

As a leading tertiary education institution, Singapore Polytechnic is poised to nurture the youth in Southeast Asia to have the entrepreneurial mindset so that they can champion innovation and technological advancement, turning the region into a progressive business hub,” said Mr Soh Wai Wah, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Polytechnic.

For as low as 15 SGD, a student taking any major can have the opportunity to access these online modules for 15 weeks. Schools can also integrate entrepreneurship in their existing curricula providing the students mentorship, skills training, shared services and workspaces, access to market and potential investors. During the program, there will be a weekly face-to-face mentoring sessions with the mentors. All students who successfully went through the program will receive a certificate from Singapore Polytechnic.

In the pursuit to elevate mentorship on the regional level, and ensure that ASEAN BAC becomes a stronger community partner, this step will serve as stronger ties and seek the support of the respective chairs of the different ASEAN countries.
