Article featured SP’s Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering graduate Kevin Wong and his journey to recovery after suffering heart failure. During his time at SP, Kevin had to miss school for a year to recover from heart failure. He waited more than four years for a heart transplant while suffering two strokes along the way. Despite his setbacks, Kevin persevered and maintained a positive attitude during his recovery. Along the way, he also found a job as a service engineer at a medical equipment distributor. After undergoing a successful heart transplant in early 2017, Kevin can run and play basketball now. To inspire other patients who are suffering from heart failure, Kevin sits on the executive committee of a relevant support group. For his courage and resilience, Kevin was honoured with a Singapore Health Inspirational Patient Award last year, given by the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre.
