Eliminating the phobia of Mathematics

Article featured SP’s Diploma in Marine Engineering graduate Abdul Haris Jameel, who was recently awarded a scholarship by the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) to pursue a Master of Science in Statistics and Applied Probability at Nottingham University. Abdul Haris shared how he had a fear of Mathematics in secondary school as he could not grasp the concept of applying mathematical formula. After taking a memorable mathematical module taught by SP lecturer Dr Edna Chan, Abdul Haris learnt how to apply the mathematical formulas and developed a passion for mathematics. He went on to pursue a degree in Mathematics and Economics at SIM-University of London and recently graduated with a First Class Honours. Abdul Haris attributes part of his success today to Dr Edna Chan.
