Firms hope to hook Singapore students on a career in maritime industry

Five major maritime companies, namely PSA Corporation, Jurong Port, A.P. Moller-Maersk, Pacific International Lines and Ocean Network Express, pitched to students on the career opportunities available in the maritime sector at an exhibition held at SP yesterday. This is part of a two-month roving exhibition, in which more than 30 maritime companies are taking part in, to be held at other Institutes of Higher Learning. Speaking at the exhibition yesterday, Transport Minister S. Iswaran cited opportunities in new areas such as green finance and carbon accounting. He also shared his hopes for more young talent to join the maritime sector. SP Diploma in Nautical Studies student and MaritimeSG Youth Ambassador Jade Neo said that the exhibition was also a chance to attract young women to join the industry.
