Singapore's upcoming Toa Payoh Integrated Development (TPID) will enhance the country's Kallang Alive sporting precinct and is designed to serve both sports and community needs. The project includes a 10,000-seater stadium, a 5,000-seater indoor hall with 22 badminton courts, a 2,000-seater aquatic centre with seven pools, the new Toa Payoh Polyclinic, a library, and other community facilities. Mr Chow Kim Nam, Deputy Director of SP’s School of Architecture and the Built Environment, highlighted Toa Payoh's historical significance as the location of Singapore's first athletes' village during the 1973 Southeast Asian Peninsular (SEAP) Games. He praised the redevelopment for preserving and enhancing the area’s legacy as a sporting hub. Experts stressed the importance of ensuring the TPID remains well-utilised by the public.
