20 May 2022

Mid-career workers who wish to upskill and enhance their employability in the infocomm and technology (ICT) sector can tap a new course on artificial intelligence and cloud services. This course, under the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP), was officially launched during a joint announcement between Huawei’s ICT Academy and SP at the Huawei Singapore Partner Summit 2022 on 20 May 2022. Similar news was reported in the Business Times, where SP School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering acting director Dr Lim Joo Ghee mentioned that the first run of the programme will commence with a class of 15, with a goal of conducting two classes this year. He added that SP hopes to expand three classes in 2023 and 2024 and train up to 120 participants in the next two years. Also quoted was Georgina Phua, deputy principal (development) of SP, who said: “(SP and Huawei’s) common vision to attract and retrain learners with the latest ICT technologies and knowledge will enable Singapore to grow a robust ICT talent base to power and shape the digital economy across sectors such as manufacturing, logistics and transportation in the future.
