Not Your Everyday Engineer

Advertorial featured SP Diploma in Civil Engineering with Business (DCEB) graduate, Jonathan Peh, and passion for Civil Engineering. Since young, Jonathan has been fascinated with the infrastructure around him. He would build a homemade metropolitan city with toys serving as elevated structures. His favourite childhood activity developed his interest in physics in secondary school and becoming a civil engineer seems like the perfect career path for him. Unfortunately, an episode of game addiction affected his O-Level grades badly and he was unable to enrol into any Junior Colleges. Just as he was about to give up, Jonathan visited the SP Open House and discovered SP’s DCEB course. His unsatisfactory results continued to be a big roadblock as he was not able to meet the entry requirements, even with the help of SP lecturers. Many would have given up by now, but the resilient youth wrote a formal appeal indicating his strong interest in the subject. His hard work paid off as he managed to enrol successfully into SP and scored the prestigious Land Transport Authority (LTA) Local/Overseas Scholarship. Now, he is furthering his studies at Imperial College London and he is grateful to SP for providing him with soft skills and hands-on experiences. These skills have served him well in his university studies. Moving forward, Jonathan intends to make his mark in the civil engineering industry and come back to SP as a lecturer.
