Palm readers, robot assistants at vending machine trade show

16 Oct 2018

Article featured the three-day SP VendTech 2018 organised by SP’s Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) students. VendTech boasts artificial intelligence and robots, as well as 61 vending machines that dispense products as varied as stationery, snacks, pet food and toner cartridges. Organisers and exhibitors hail the increasing viability of vending machines - including machines dispensing chilli crab and popiah - as a way of reducing labour costs. DBA student Ryan Wong, who is an organiser of VendTech, shared that working on the trade show had been an eye-opener in terms of grasping the needs of businesses. It has helped him understand how industry partners operate in the real world. (The Straits Times)
