Polytechnics hold open house
09 Jan 2025
As O-Level results are set to be released, polytechnics in Singapore are holding open house events to showcase their courses and innovations. SP is focusing on digital innovation, sustainability, and academic advancements this year. The open house features exhibitions and talks over three days, highlighting courses aligned with Singapore’s Green Plan. Mr Niu Tianfang, course chair for SP's School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, noted a rise in enrolment for microelectronics courses since last year, with an expectation of high interest in renewable and sustainable energy programs. RP, meanwhile, is emphasising hands-on learning and industry collaborations. RP's partnership with the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Advisory Committee gives students opportunities for internships at leading biopharmaceutical firms. At the open house, engineering students demonstrated a robot controlled remotely via computer to write Chinese calligraphy. Mr Soh Lai Seng, Dean of RP's School of Engineering, highlighted the popularity of aviation management and engineering courses, attributing it to Singapore’s construction of a fifth passenger terminal and increasing electronic investments, both of which promise future job opportunities.
