Rare genetic disorder made her hypersensitive to the cold

16 Apr 2025

Ms Michelle Mak, who turns 46 in 2025, used to suffer from extreme cold sensitivity, experiencing fevers, rashes, and joint stiffness during cool weather. In 2023, she was diagnosed with the rare genetic disorder Muckle-Wells syndrome, which affects fewer than one or two in a million people. After receiving medical treatment, her symptoms were brought under control, giving her the confidence to pursue and complete a SP’s Diploma in Design (Visual Communication) course.
