REACH launches toolkit to promote diverse dialogue and social consensus
03 Feb 2025
The REACH (reaching everyone for active citizenry @ home) team was formerly known as the Government Feedback Unit and was established in 1985. REACH gathers public feedback on various policies and issues through dialogues, "Listening Points” surveys, and online surveys. Since 2023, REACH has conducted 87 dialogues, 177 “Listening Points” surveys, and 19 online engagements, reaching a total of 300,000 people both online and offline. These engagements have included low-income families, homebuyers, ex-offenders, and overseas Singaporeans. REACH stated that after each event, authorities typically compile participants' opinions and ideas and share them with relevant government agencies as references for policymaking and public communications. Yang Qin Kai, a 19-year-old student from SP, first participated in a REACH dialogue in 2022. From 2022 to 2024, Yang Qin Kai served as a member of REACH’s Youth Advisory Committee. He often encouraged his friends to participate in dialogues, not only to express their own views but also to understand the perspectives of others. He believes that REACH’s new initiatives will effectively engage the younger generation.
