Sembcorp, Singapore Polytechnic collaborate on solar panel recycling technology

24 Jan 2019

News clip highlighted the collaboration between SP and Sembcorp Industries to commercialise Singapore's first solar panel recycling technology. The technology is able to salvage almost 90 per cent of the used solar panels, which include glass, silicon and metals. The collaboration also includes training skilled workers for the solar energy sector. Moving forward, SP hopes to roll out a pilot recycling plant, which can recycle 80 solar panels and operate 24 hours a day. SP also aims to employ this on a larger scale and make it feasible for the larger market.
