Singapore wants to grow its manufacturing sector by 50 per cent over the next 10 years as it works to ensure that the sector continues to contribute to about a fifth of economic output over the medium term. Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing shared that the government wants to see a greater proportion of advanced manufacturing in the industry, where the competition is based on the intellectual property and quality of products generated. To attract local talent to the industry, the Singapore Manufacturing Federation is working with SP to have students serve internships at relevant companies.
