More than 100 students from SP will receive annual bursaries worth $2,500 each from donations raised by the institution as it celebrates its 70th anniversary. The polytechnic, Singapore's oldest, raised over $2.6 million in endowed donations to support students in need. Since 2013, SP has helped over 8,000 students with more than 110 bursaries given yearly under the Singapore Polytechnic Graduates’ Guild Education Fund. Additionally, SP will allocate $100,000 for the President’s Challenge, with half of the amount coming from the raised funds and the other half from its income. The President’s Challenge is a national initiative led by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to support disadvantaged communities. A symbolic cheque was presented to President Tharman at SP’s 70th Anniversary Charity Golf and Gala Dinner, attended by about 1,000 staff members, students, industry partners, alumni, and some President's Challenge beneficiaries. President Tharman commended SP for its significant contributions to talent development and economic progress over the past 70 years, its strong alumni network, industry partnerships, and its culture of giving.
