Singapore Polytechnic to launch new business programme for Year 1 students

19 Nov 2024

SP will introduce the Business Essentials Through Action (BETA) Programme in the 2025/26 academic year, offering Year 1 students in the School of Business hands-on experience in venture creation, industry mentorship, and social impact. The programme, developed with the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) and supported by Mentoring SG, includes seed funding of $1,000 for each student's venture. A memorandum of understanding between SP and NVPC will provide students opportunities for industry exposure, experiential learning, curriculum integration, and Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses. SP Principal and CEO Mr Soh Wai Wah highlighted the programme’s aim to inspire both business acumen and social responsibility: “Our students must understand how even small business decisions can significantly impact communities and stakeholders. We aim to empower them to not only build profitable businesses but also drive positive social change within their communities.”
