Article featured SP student and Team Singapore boxer, Nur Sabrina Binte Mohamed Faizal. In the beginning, Sabrina only learned the sport so that she could lose weight. However, her talent was quickly spotted by Singaporean boxing legend and current President of the Singapore Amateur Boxing Association, Syed Abdul Kadir, who proceeded to take her under his wing. Sabrina then started to train professionally and developed a love for the sport. She has represented Singapore in the recent Asian Games in Jakarta and also won the championship title for the Woman’s 60kg National Amateur Boxing competition. Sabrina plans to train even harder, inspire more women to take up boxing and raise the awareness of the sport in Singapore. (Lianhe Zaobao, p18)
