Sisters use YouTube to promote Mandarin

17 Oct 2018

Article featured YouTuber sisters, Michy and SP Diploma in Interior Design graduate, Tiffanie. The sisters are naturals in front of the camera and have released a few videos under their channel, TiffwithMi, that have received attention from viewers. Some of their popular videos include food and fashion reviews. They used to receive critique that they are “too cheena”, referring to them being too Chinese sounding. However, instead of changing their speaking styles, they made more Chinese speaking videos and even provided English subtitles for their viewers in an attempt to promote Mandarin. They wish to make more videos to encourage viewers to keep learning and to eliminate the stereotypes of Singaporeans having just average ability in both Mandarin and English language.
