SP grads give back through drama and social work

Article featured two SP graduates, Jasmine Chew and Jason Tan, who both graduated with a diploma in applied drama and psychology (DADP) on May 4. Jasmine shared her love for people and volunteering, and her eagerness to pursue DADP after her O-Levels. However, her parents wanted her to study business and she kept her application a secret from them. Initially, this led to strained relationships with her parents. After seeing, her passion and determination, her parents were convinced that Jasmine made the right choice. Even before graduation, Jasmine has secured a full-time social worker role with Beyond Social Services, where she interned at. On the other hand, Jason shared his journey to getting his diploma. His father, who was a forklift driver and the sole breadwinner, died of colon cancer after his first semester in SP. Devastated but inspired by his father to do better, Jason sourced for opportunities beyond the classroom to engage with the community, to make his time in DADP more fulfilling. Moving forward, he plans to go into social work full time.
