Article featured the Special Awards Presentation Ceremony, an annual ceremony which recognises students who overcome odds to become role models and contribute in various areas. SP’s Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduates, Chryston Chua and Neo Yizhe, received the Lee Hsien Loong Interactive Digital Media Smart Nation Award for the dementia tracker which they developed for their final-year project in SP. The inspiration for the tracker was Chryston’s grandmother, who was diagnosed with dementia when he was 11. The tracker comes with an SOS function and is lightweight and portable. The duo also aim to price the device at a fraction of commercial trackers, which cost about $200 each. The device is currently with SP for further research. (The New Paper, p20)
