Teachers can stay long in careers if they remember the original purpose, broaden their perspective, refine work practices & re-evaluate priorities

Education Minister Chan Chun Sing spoke to more than 262 teachers who received their appointments at National Institute of Education (NIE)’s Teachers’ Investiture Ceremony (TIC) yesterday. He urged educators to constantly refine their practices and strengthen their professionalism through lifelong learning. One of the teachers who has already taken up the challenge is Ms Amira Tajudin, who used to work in the banking sector after completing her diploma at SP in 2013 but changed careers because she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her mother and sister. She shared that she was attracted to the field of early childhood education because during her practice, she saw that Primary 1 pupils had difficulty transitioning from kindergarten level and she wanted to improve her pedagogy in helping struggling first-graders.
